This is what was read yesterday from the weekly Torah portion in synagogues throughout the Jewish world:
"And Moshe took the bones of Yosef with him, for he had made the children of Israel swear, saying: God will surely remember you, and you shall carry up my bones from here with you."
A moment before the redemption, before the Exodus from Egypt, the people of Israel take care to fulfill the testament of Yosef the tzadik: to bring him to be buried in the Land of Israel. We studied this verse on Sunday in the weekly shiur, and someone commented that it really reminds her of Ran Gvili, and the hope to bring him to be buried in Israel. The next day his body was found.
Ran, son of Tali. The first to leave, the last to return. Thank you to so many anonymous heroes who are responsible for this. And now - all the names have been removed from all the prayer lists of the hostages in Gaza. May we merit the fulfillment of all our prayers.
